I’d like to apologize for taking so long to get back to you.  I was out on vacation and mostly doing financial damage abatement.  Needless to say, I had to bow out of all of the things I had planned on doing while home.  The most important thing I had planned to do was visit you and thank you personally for the opportunity you offered to me.  Things didn’t work the way I’d planned and I have gotten to the old fart stage of my life where I don’t want to inconvenience anybody.  Although you might not think so, I would invariably get frustrated at mooching off of you and your kindness and go back to (home).  I’ll spare you the particulars of my wife’s financial ineptness (and my allowing it to get that way) and just say that after a lot of pleading with the financial institutions to which I was indebted, I got down to 2 bills.  With all the other additional monthly debts, I didn’t see any way to come to (there) without further indebtedness accumulating.  I took the chicken way out and came back to (my location), resolute in the realization that I’m going to die here.  I’m actually ok with that but I am very upset that it’s taken me this long to contact you. I’m sorry and hope that all goes well for you.  I hope I didn’t cause you inconvenience and that you’ll stay in touch.  I’ll get your HDD back to you as soon as possible.  Take Care,
vr
